Midweek Magnolia Celebrations Challenge

As I sit here typing I should be sleeping. I have to get up at 6 to get ready to go the local surgery center for surgery on my foot. Needless to say this will be short and sweet. I really enjoyed Midweek Magnolia's 100 Special Celebration Blog Hop. They have some great prizes offered and I want to join. Here is my entry. It isn't my best-I really don't like the way the flowers turned out. This card is going to my church to be read as a thank you for everything my friends are doing. I have lots of people praying and some women are bringing meals since I have to be off my feet. I just really appreciate all of them so much and am so blessed to have them in my life. I used Happy Easter Tilda because she looks like she is really celebrating life. The sentiment was done on the computer and cut out using a Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Tag. The paper heart doily was inked with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

Halloween Tags

Hi all. I got a couple of freebies that go with Halloween challenges. I'm not much into Halloween and don't need cards, so I decided to do a couple of tags that I can later use as scrapbook embellishments. The first one uses Lacy Sunshine's Eleanor and Pickles Ve Vant Candy. They are a very cute duo. I inked my tag with distress inks and stains, sprayed it with homemade glimmer mist (perfect pearls mixed with water), and started stamping. Here is what I came up with:

I popped my digi up with foam tape. She is colored with Inktense Water Color pencils. I added some bling to her glasses and put Crystal 3D Lacquer on the lenses to make it look glassy. I did the same thing to two of the potion bottles and the fly's wings.

Stamps used: Studio 490 Art Gone Postal set (mesh background although not very visible) and Art Rules (Head); Tim Holtz wood mounted collage stamp (I don't know what it is called) and sentiment set (trick or treat), Studio 112 Clear mini stamps (bottle, frog, fly)

I did not use the whole collage stamp. I just want the 13 and the crows and some background. I did not get enough ink on the crows evidently because they don't show up at all.

I used a Tim Holtz charm fragment and put embossing glitter on the back of it. I then stamped a 31 using Black StazOn. I went over it with black soot distress marker because it just wasn't dark enough. I pinned it to the ribbon using a trinket pin from Tim Holtz.

It is being entered into the following challenge:

My next tag uses the freebie from Sherry Balding found Here. She is called Nellies Pumpkin and is colored again with Inktense pencils. The challenge at My Besties Challenge blog is Bling it up. My foundation is still done using just the distress inks and spray. I didn't use so many background stamps though. I gave this one a different twist, hand-drawing a spiderweb then using Inkssentials Enamel Accents to make it pop. Here it is:

The spider is made using a button and jute twine. I threaded the twine through the buttons holes so they wouldn't show. I then hotglued the other legs onto the back. His eyes are made with the Inkssentials Enamel Accents. I think he's cute for a spider. I added a fly from the above stamp set. The bat is a freebie over at Scribbles Designs found Here. I colored him with Wink of Stella Glitter Pens. I liked the 31 on the first tag, so added it here doing the same technique. This time though I put it on the tag with a Tim Holtz memo pin. I also added a small piece of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and part of a bling swirl from Want 2 Scrap (I cut it in half). A Tim Holtz reinforcer in on the hole of the tag. I also used stickles for extra bling.

I used Tim Holtz crinkle ribbon on both tags, inking them up with distress stains on the top tag and inks sprayed with water on the second tag. I then crinkled them into balls and dried them with the heat tool. I don't think they turned out too badly.

The second tag is going into the following challenge:

LTSCB Challenge #40 "Seeing Dots"

Welcome to another challenge over at the Love to Scrap Challenge Dots. For this bi-weekly challenge we want to see Polka Dots somewhere on your project. Our sponsors are:

Prize: 2 images of choice to winner
Doctor Digi

Prize: 3 images of choice to winner
Lacy Sunshine Stamps

Here is my creation:

I chose the image Gnome Sweet Gnome by Dr. Digi’s. I needed a fall card, so I made a fall scene using copics to color the image. For the leaf inside, I covered white cardstock with Tim Holtz Tissue Paper and used his Tattered Leaves Big Die to cut it out. I then inked it with Distress inks. I sewed the leaf charm onto the bow. For the word “Y’all” I had to use a “Y” from the word you and the “all” from Fall.
Recipe:
Cardstock
DP: Paper Studio and DCWV Sweater Weather 6x6 pad
Stamps: Digi stamp Gnome Sweet Gnome, Fiskars Border-A-Plenty leaf border, Words from an unknown company (I can’t find the package), Just Right Cling set Hanging Around (inside sentiment)

October Mingles Card

This is the card that I made for the October Mingles over at the Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group. The theme was Christmas or non-traditional Christmas colors.

I used the sketch for this week’s Mojo Monday challenge. I don't know what the image is. I received her as a RAK. I colored her with copics and used snow-tex on the fir of her coat and hat. I chose to make an easel card this time around. The paper used is from an old Christmas stack that I have had for years. I really need to use my old paper. My paper supply keeps piling up and I really need to thin it down. The red piece of cardstock was ran through a snowflake embossing folder. I then lightly ran a white inkpad over the raised surfaces to highlight the snowflakes. The green pieces of DP were inked on the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink to make them stand out more against each other. The snowflake on the inside and the hidden tag were made using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. I gave the snowflake a light coat of crystal 3D laquer and sprinkled it with micro fine glitter. I then covered it with a thick coat of laquer for dimension so that it would look like an epoxy sticker. I tried using a border punch, but it didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped. I used snowflakes to cover up my goofs. That’s the nice thing about embellies-you can put them wherever you need themJ.

Illness Survival Kit LTSCB #39

Welcome to another “Anything Goes” Challenge at the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog. Remember though, for this challenge you cannot use digital images, only rubber, clear, or cling stamps. Our sponsor for this round is Taylored Expressions. They are giving a Petite stamp set of choice to the winner.
 Taylored Expressions
They graciously provided a petite stamp set to each DT member to use. I was so excited to see this set. It’s called Moka Melissa. I have an Aunt who is a nurse. She recently underwent a stem cell transplant and has been in the hospital for 3 weeks. I thought this set would be perfect for a get well card. I also have a niece who just finished up her LPN training. This image will be perfect for a congratulations card.

When I went to start this project, the intent was to make a “Get Well” card for my aunt. She still has a long road to recovery. This set has a tissue box on it, which got me to thinking about tissue boxes. I thought, “It would be kind of cool if I could make a box for those purse-sized tissue packets.” I got on You tube and found a tutorial. I had a hard time following it and scored my first attempt incorrectly. I got my box put together and decided that I could modify it a little. The original box called for an 8 ½ x 12 inch piece of cardstock. After seeing how it went together, I made another one with a regular 8 ½ x 11 inch piece.

As I made the tissue box, I got the idea to make an “Illness Survival Kit”. I had one of those clear pails that you buy in a craft store and decided to decorate it. I am not sure what all I am going to put into it besides the tissue box-probably some tea bags, maybe a pocket word search if I can find one. Let me know if you have any ideas-it won’t hold a lot though. It isn’t very big. The tissue box is almost too tall.
Here is my attempt at another new-to-me project:

Here is a picture of the tissue box after it is scored and cut and another one after it is put together. My second one turned out way better than my first.

Fall Card #2 Emily Windy Days

One down, 11 more fall cards to go. We have to make 12 cards for card club-I thought we only had to make 3. This one is done using this week's sketch from Mojo Monday and an image from Lacy Sunshine called Emily Windy Days. She was the free image this time from their progressive challenge. This is a Tall and Skinny card measuring 3.5"x6".

I don't know what happened to the picture of my image. I took it the right way, but it is now sideways. Oh, well. That has happened to me before and I have no clue how to fix it. The outside sentiment says Happy Fall Y'all. I did not have Y'all so I had to mask the Y from "you" and the all from "fall". I sewed the charm to the bow.

Here is the supply list:
Cardstock
DP: Paper Studio and DCWC Sweater Weather, Tim Holtz Tissue paper
Dies: Magnolia Tilda Lace Die, Spellbinders Floral Ovals, Tim Holtz Big Die Tattered Leaves
Image: Emily Windy Days from Lacy Sunshine
Stamps: Just Right Cling set "Hanging Around" (inside sentiment), Fiskars "Border-A-Plenty" leaves
Outside sentiment from an unknown word set that I have had for years.
Misc: Ribbon, leaf charm, stickles, Distress ink, copics.
