Fall Card

This is the first of three Fall cards that I have to make for my next card club meeting. I was so inspired by a card I found that I couldn’t wait to go home and try my own version. The original inspiration can be found at Anna’shandmade cards. This is my version ( I love it!):

 And the inside:

While my layout came from Anna, my element choices came from many challenge blog challenges. So many of them had fall themes that it was easy to incorporate the requirements into my card.
Items used:
DP:DCWV 6x6 Sweater Weather paper pad
Dies: Tim Holtz Big Dies Tattered Leaves (covered with Tim Holtz Terminology Tissue Wrap)
Spellbinders Floral Ovals (2nd largest one)
Stamps: Lacy Sunshine digi stamp Tansy Plum Ray (colored with copics)
Just Right Cling “Hangin’ Around” set (sentiments and pumpkin)
Embellishments: Pearls, Ribbon, Burlap Ribbon, Lace, Stickles, Glitter Paint, Pearl Pen
Inks used: Distress Ripe Persimmon, Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Dried Marigold and Brown Momento

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like what you see here. Remember-Lacy Sunshine has a progressive challenge. If you use one of their images in the current challenge, you can get a free one for the next challenge. Check them out-they have great digi stamps.

I also noticed that Ladybug Crafts Ink is closing. This is their final challenge and ends Sept. 30. It is always sad to see a papercrafting company close. I wish them well in their future endeavors. The theme for the challenge is "Favorite Image". While Tansy may not exactly be my favorite, she is really cute and Lacy Sunshine images are among my favorites. I guess I can't name just one stamp as my favorite.

LTSCB challenge 38 "Anything Goes"

Hello. Welcome to another Love To Scrap challenge. This time around it’s Anything Goes. We only have one sponsor for this bi-weekly challenge and that sponsor is:
 DRS Designs

The Prize:

I am working with an image and sentiment by DRS Designs that they graciously provided. The image is entitled “Snow Globe” and the sentiment is called Spirit of Christmas Greeting. Obviously I made a Christmas card. I have been wanting a snow globe image for some time. I saw this one and decided to give it a try. Normally we are not supposed to use any images or stamps from other manufacturers, but what is a snow globe without something inside. I don’t have anything else from DRS so I put a silhouette nativity inside.  That way I am not taking much away from the globe itself. This is my first shaker card ever. I got on You tube and found a simple tutorial. I decided to give it a go. I had to tear it apart and add a second layer of foam tape because the snow is just too thick and wouldn’t move around. It wouldn’t stay inside the tape either because the tape did not make a high enough wall. I don’t think it turned out to bad for my first try.

I used my gellyroll clear stardust pen on the stars inside the globe. I stamped the nativity with brown momento ink but it wasn’t dark enough. You could see the background paper through the image. I traced over it with copic E49 which helped tremendously. I stamped a star onto yellow cardstock and cut it out (not the easiest thing to do). I covered it with Wink of Stella gold and yellow pens for some sparkle and mounted it to the stable with a glue dot. Then I took diamond stickles and added more shine to the background. I had printed the globe several times on regular paper until I got the right size. Then I placed a small piece of brown cardstock over the globe’s base and printed again. I cut it out and layered it over the image. The cardinal and poinsettia are movers and shapers mini dies by Tim Holtz. I covered them with his frosted film for sparkle and used distress inks to color. The cardinal wasn’t dark enough, so I colored him with R27. I cut both dies out of a material called Clearly for Art. I used the whitout for this but it also comes in clear and black. You can heat this material and then shape it. I only shaped the poinsettia. The green branches are a pine branch punch from Paper Blossoms. The DP is from an old Christmas pack that I have had for years.

Here is the inside:

I used a small image of the snow globe printed on white cardstock. I colored it with copics-BG10 for the globe and E23, 25, 27, and 29 for the base. I then used Wink of Stella pens clear and brown to add sparkle. I stamped an angel inside using Delecata Gold ink. I applied a thin coat of 3D Crystal lacquer and sprinkled a little Rock Candy distress glitter and Recollections Bling extra fine glitter so that it looked like snow swirling around inside. I then added a thick layer of the crystal lacquer for a glassy effect. The sentiment was printed using Word. I changed the color using the recolor picture tool.

All in all I am very please at how this turned out. I hope you like it too. Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see your creations entered into our anything goes challenge. It runs from Sept. 15th-28th. Just click on the picture in my side bar. Until next time, “Happy Crafting”!!

LTSCB Challenge 37 "Let's Fly Away"

Hello and welcome to another challenge on our Love To Scrap Challenge Blog. This bi-weekly theme is "Let's Fly Away" where you need to create a project featuring something that flies. Our sponsors this time around are:

Prize: 7 images of choice to winner

Bugaboo Digi Stamps

and
Prize: 3 images to winner

Here is what I created using images from Bugaboo Digital Stamps:

The base is cardstock. The plaid paper is from Paper Pizazz. The circle is a Memory Box die and is cut out of specialty paper called Shimmer Sheets. It is a very thick paper and has a different consistency than regular paper. It does not die cut easily and I had to hand cut parts of it with scissors and a craft knife. The shiny effect is spectacular though and worth the effort. The other dies that I used on the image and inside mat are from the spellbinders nestabilities decorative labels 8 set.The sentiment was typed on the computer and die cut. I inked the edges with chipped sapphire distress ink and added rhinestones. I popped it using foam tape.

Here is the inside. I spritzed the die cut with a spray I made using water and white Perfect Pearls.

Here are close ups of my Bugaboo images. They are (in order of appearance) Dollar Dragonfly, Rainboot Bugs, and Chubby Butterfly 1. These are adorable images. I colored them using inktense pencils. I added Stickles, 3D Crystal Lacquer, and Wink of Stella for glitter and shine. I attached the bugs on the outside of the card using wire.

I hope you enjoyed my creation. Check out the rest of the DT by clicking on the link on my sidebar. I hope to see your creations entered into our challenge. Until next time-Happy Crafting!!
