A Maggie Birthday Card

I found some great glitter paper on sale at Michael's. I thought it would look great on a birthday card. What do you think? I made this one using Mini Happy Spring Tilda. (I really wish it was spring)

I am beginning to experiment with the myriad of decorative paper that I have accumulated. I love DP, but I am so scared to use it. This card features button paper from My Mind's Eye and glitter paper from Michaels. I could not find a brand name. I did not have matching ribbon, so I took some light blue and inked with Distress Salty Ocean. The DP is layered with cardstock. The scallop was done with a Martha Stewart punch. The die is from Spellbinders. The images were colored with copics. I sprayed the balloons with water mixed with white perfect pearls to give them a sheen. It wasn't sparkly enough so I covered them with glue and microfine glitter. I also used glossy accents on the little highlites of the balloons for more dimension.

Masculine Valentines

These are my creations for my first Magnolia card swap. I joined the Magnalicious group @ yahoo a few months ago because I saw and fell in love with Tilda and Edwin. I continue to find my way around the databases and files. There are a few activities I would like to try. With this being the month before Valentines Day, I decided to try my hand at a more masculine card that I can give to my husband. He is so not into pink and flowery. This CAS card should be more his style. The second one will work for any friend as I just put a "Be Mine" sentiment on it.

These cards were made using the exact same supplies and taken in the exact same lighting. I don't know why the coloring is different. The top picture is probably more accurate colorwise. The DP is just some from my stash that I have had for years. I colored the red jewels with a copic. The hearts were made with a punch from Creative Memories. I used Christmas Red Stickles around the die and heart.  I printed the sentiment using Word before I punched it. I used Mini Tilda with Heart and colored her with copics. Its a pretty simple card that speaks for itself.

Angel Card

This card was specifically made for the CDAC challenges Progessive Freebie Challenge and the Inspirational Challenge. The angel image and sentiment are courtesy of Shelly from Shelly's Images. If you like it, pop over to www.shellysimages.com and visit her store.

The base is cream cardstock. The dp is the same digital paper that I used on my last card. I liked it so well I wanted to use it again. Plus it fit in with the color challenge for the Inspirational Challenge. The angel is colored with copics as are the heart punched sentiment layers. The button is homemade using white cardstock that I colored to match the sentiment. I used a small heart punch from Creative Memories. I then covered it with two coats of Glossy Accents and sprinkled it with Effectz Gold Essence ultrafine glitter. Bakers twine is knotted to complete the look. I mounted the angel on the green cardstock to make a mat. I again added lace self adhesive ribbon, flowers, and bling to complete the look. I used stickles on the swirls on the angel's wings. I used a Creative Memories green glitter pen overlaid with the Gellyroll stardust clear pen on the vines inside the heart. The angel's wings were sprayed with Mr. Huey's Shine. I then traced some of the artist marks with the stardust clear pen. The sentiment was punched with another bigger heart punch from Creative Memories and backed with self adhesive ribbon. I really like how this card turned out. For the sketch and stash challenge I used both new and neglected things. The new would be the image and sentiment. The neglected is the dp (since I forgot I even had it. I don't even know how long I've had it). I just started using the lace also.

The quickest card I've ever made

This has to be the quickest card that I have ever made. I needed a card last night to take to my church secret prayer partner. We had the revealing of names last night. CDAC has a new challenge called the 1-2-3 Challenge. To participate in this challenge you must use a digital image, a flower, dp, and bling. With this in mind I went to my flash drive to see what I had. Low and behold I found some interesting digital elements. I have no idea where I got these, I just remember that they were free downloads. I found really nice paper and a really nice sentiment with a flower on it. I'm like "Aha! I can use those. They look like they match." I printed them out and they looked okay together. I did decide to reprint the paper on semi gloss photo paper. That improved the quality of the look. I cut everything out. I used an old corner punch from Creative Memories to cut the corners of the sentiment and matted it with dark green cardstock. I took a craft knife and cut around part of the doily and circle in the lower left of the paper. I then took some self-adhesive lace ribbon and laid it across, tucking it under them. I mounted it on cream cardstock. I used foam dots on the sentiment, put a paper flower from Mulberry Street Paper Flowers on the doily with a pearl in the center. The flower bling is from Creative Charms. I added white dots to the centers with a pearl pen from My Paper Pen. All in all, I had somewhere between 30-45 minutes in the card. That included looking through the flash drive and printing everything (along with some other digis to use on a card I want to do this weekend.) I was thrilled. It usually takes anywhere from 2-4 hours for me to design a card and put it together.

Magnolialicious Birthday Card

It's been a while, but I have finally got something new to share. I give full credit for this creation to the Magnolia-licious Challenge blog color challenge and their DT member Eulanda. I liked her card so much that I copied her layout. Here are the pics:

I don't have any gray DP, So I had to use one that is kind of bluish-gray. I sprayed the card base with Mr. Huey Shine glimmer mist. It gives a silvery, metallic sheen to the paper. The die cut is by spellbinders. The stamp is Happy Spring Tilda by Magnolia Stamps. Her dress is colored with copic cool grays. The ballon stamp is one from Hero Art. I also used the grays on them and then cut out just the balloons. There are 3 sets of the balloons on this card. The balloon strings are silver metallic curling ribbon that I cut in half because it was to wide. I attached them to the backs of the balloons with glue dots and used a piece of the ribbon to tie a bow around them. The coloring on the strings is just a reflection of my shirt. I also sprayed the balloons with Mr. Huey shine. It really made them sparkle. Foam squares to the balloons and Tilda add dimension. I also used cinnamon Stickles around Tilda's oval frame and diamond stickles to her dress. I hope you like her!
