LTSCB Challenge 44 "When Nature Calls"

Hello. Welcome to another challenge over at the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog. This should be a pretty easy challenge to participate in, so we all hope that you will join us. The theme is "When Nature Calls". Your project must contain some kind of stamping (digi or rubber) and something from nature-plants, animals, water anything you can think of. Our sponsor is:
Prize: $10 gift certificate

Stitchy Bear's Digi Outlet
I chose the image called Winterville. It can be found here. It is a lovely image. I was pressed for time so decided to do CAS. I really like how it turned out. Here it is:

Leaving most of the image in its original black and white, I added color to the pines and clothes using a nib and distress ink. I then framed it with the large die from the Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles set. I had to cut out the inside of it since it makes a mat. I popped it up with foam tape. Silver ribbon and snowflakes from a Martha Stewart punch complete the layout. I stamped a simple sentiment in red and added stickles to the trees, roofs, and a little ground of the image. I also added stickles to the snowflakes. The inside is just flip of the outside.

I hope you like this and I hope to see your work on the LTSCB blog challenge. This is the last challenge of the year. You have until Dec. 28th to enter.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Magnolia Nativity

Hi everyone. I tried so hard this past week to get this finished for the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog's Christmas blog hop challenge, but alas I did not make it. My foot is slowly healing and I am able to get around some now, so I wanted to give this a try. I thought I had until Nov 30 at midnight, but guess not. Anyway, it fits in with the current challenge of anything goes, so I can still enter it for a chance to win something great. I love Magnolia images! Here is the picture of my big project:

This is made using paper mache tissue boxes that I bought at a nearby craft store. I spray painted them with cream colored paint and covered them with decorative paper from Timbergrove. I used Lace Tape to cover the place where the paper joined. I used all of the nativity collection images. I forgot to write them down before I left to go to the library, so I will have to add them later. On top of the end pieces are plug in electric candles. I added a taper hanger and poinsettia ring to them. The star is an ornament I found at the same craft store. I wanted something smaller, but there was not a lot to choose from. The snowflakes are the small doohickey die from the snowflake kit. I cut them out of grunge paper and painted them with sea glass acrylic paint. I then covered them with gloss PPA and sprinkled them with clear microfine glitter. I added a rhinestone to the center of each. The letters were painted with ivory acrylic paint and distressed with the sea glass. I added frantage and microfine clear glitter also.

I used copics to color the images. I also added stickles and Wink of Stella clear glitter brush to give them some sparkle. I used a Tim Holtz jump ring to attach the angel to the hanger. The images are mounted to grunge board to add thickness and make them more sturdy. I also cover all paper and images with glue and seal for added protection.

Bear with me. Here are lots of closeups:

This is going to be a Christmas gift for my mom. She collects nativities.

LTSCB Challenge 43 "Shape Shift"

It is now officially the start of the Christmas season, so for this challenge over at the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog I chose to make a Christmas Card for our Shape Shift Challenge. No square or Rectangular cards allowed and your project must contain some kind of stamping.

Our sponsors for this challenge are:

Prize: 3 images of choice to winner

Lacy Sunshine Stamps

Prize: $12 gift certificate (equal to 3 images of choice) to the shop at www.adayfordaisies.com
A Day For Daisies

I chose to work with a great image from Lacy Sunshine called Flurry. I also used the red digital paper from the Garden of Fairies Paper Pack 2 from Stitchy Bear that I used in the last challenge. Here is what I came up with:

Isn't she lovely? I colored with copics and added stickles and snow tec. The snowflake punch is Martha Stewart and I used silver glitter paper that I bought at Michaels. The verse is printed on the computer. The saying is two different stamps from Stampin Up. I don't know the brand of glitter twine. I bought it at the Memories Expo in Columbus, Ohio. My card shapes are done using Lifestyle Crafts dies from the Label It Kit.

I hope you will join us for this fun challenge. Be sure to check out the other DT Blogs for more inspiration. You have until Dec. 14th to enter.
