LTSCB Challenge 34 "Scheming Crafters"

This time around for our Love To Scrap challenge we want you to use a particular color scheme. It can be anything really-monochromatic, seasonal, duo, ombre, etc. We have two sponsors:

I chose the image "Steampunk Heart" by Delicious Doodles, which can be purchased at Stitchy Bear. Several years ago I purchased a Library Pocket Book Kit at the Memories Scrapbooking Expo in Columbus Ohio. I was going to turn it into a brag book to hold pics of my grandchildren that I was sure I would have. (My daughter was pregnant at the time.) I got as far as putting the album together and covering the front and back with DP. I then couldn't decide how to decorate it, so I put it up. When I saw this image I thought it would go great with the DP. I have never been into steampunk although I do like the things that I have seen. I did not know what to really do with this image, but it has a lot of elements to it. I decided to try it and grunged it up. I added glimmer mist, Tim Holtz elements, and pearl pen dots.
Here is the original image:
Pretty great huh?! Now here is what I did with it:

I printed the image on grunge paper by Tim Holtz for extra durability. I colored it with Inktense pencils and a water pen. The gray elements were colored using the Inktense metallic pewter pencil. I sprayed the heart with Ritzy Ditz Garnet (no longer available because PK Glitz went out of business). I made my own pearls using a Viva Paper Pen. When they were set I colored them copics. The link chain and gear are Tim Holtz products. The ball chain is just one that I had laying around. It's hard to tell where it came from. The key and two little hearts were made using a product called Mod Melts. It is new to me. We made elements in one of our card classes two weeks ago. It looks like a glue stick. You use a high temp mini glue gun to melt it and it goes into silicone molds. I poked a hole in my key before it set up. Then you paint them and use them. They are kind of neat. I also used stickles on parts of the image. I popped the image using foam squares. This was a must because since I glued on the ball chain in the back and used brads, the image would not lay flat.

I really like how this turned out. My next pictures are the inside of the book. They are pockets that have inserts. You can decorate them however you want. I have only done the first one so far:
This is the book open.

This is the inside cover with the insert in the pocket. You remove it by pulling on the ribbon. I attached the ribbon using the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher.

This is the insert. I decorated it using Distress Inks and sentiment stamp from Close to My Heart. The set is all about Family. I also used smaller images of the Steampunk Heart to cover up the staple on both sides. The insert can be decorated on both sides. Eventually I will hopefully get a current picture of all of my kids, spouses, and granddaughter to put on the other side. I put Cinnamon stickles on the flourishes.

Closer view of the sentiment.
Close up view of the small heart. I used copics and Platinum Stickles. I love how it turned out.

I hope you like the start of my album. I plan on doing another page for our next challenge. Stay tuned to see if it works out.

I hope that you will visit our Love To Scrap Challenge Blog. Just click on the pic in my sidebar. We would love to see what you create. Happy Crafting!!
