November Tim Tag

Hi everyone. This is just a quick post to share my take on Tim's November tag. I did not have the stamp or alphabet dies so I used the tattered leaf die and "family" die instead.

I covered white cardstock with Tim Holtz tissue paper. I then die cut it and colored it using distress markers. Remnant Rubs and Distress Stain make up the background. The corrugated and cork layers are attached using Tim Holtz long fasteners. Tim Holtz embellishments add the final touches. The words behind the acrylic tile were printed from the computer onto patterned paper and adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.I used a fine-tip sharpie to add veins to the leaf.

Tags inspired by Tim

I’m here today to share my versions of the October tag made by Tim Holtz. I made two tags. The first one was done using his tutorials and making a monster tag for Halloween. The other is my own spin using the same materials and background but different focal points so that I can display them all year. Here is where you can find Tim’s tutorial Here.

Recipe for the Monster Tag:

Base: Large Manilla Tag

Background: Tim Holtz Curiosties Ephemera Pack, Distress Collage Medium Crazing, and Festive                              Berries Distress Crayon and White Gel Pen. Then splattered with Black Soot Distress                            Paint

Monster: Tim Holtz Sizzix Monster Die, Cardstock, Tim Holtz self-adhesive Foil Tape (placed on top                   of the card stock), Sizzix Riveted Metal embossing folder, Distress Paints Black Soot and                       Tarnished Bronze

Embellishments: Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher staples, Observations Word Band, Long Fasteners, Wicked T

                                Adornments, and Tinsel Twine; White coated wire (to look like webbing)

Adhesive: Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive and foam tape

Tools: Tim Holtz Spatter and Collage Brushes, Tiny Attacher, Tea Towel (to wipe paint off of monster),

             Hole punch, paint brush, Vagabond Die Cutting machine

For Journey Tag:

Base: Large Manilla Tag

Background: Various scraps of paper-mostly Tim Holtz, Distress Collage Medium Crazing, Chipped                           Saphire Distress Crayon, White Gel Pen

Focal Point: Tim Holtz Regal Crest Big Die, Our Daily Bread Workshop Tools Dies, Meadow and                             Denim Alcohol Inks, Riveted Metal Embossing Folder, Cardstock covered with Foil Tape,                     Black Soot and Tarnished Bronze Distress Paints

Embellishments: Tim Holtz Tissue Tape (Tape Measure), Handwritten Journey Dies, Staples, Sprocket                              Gears, Game Spinner, Long Fasteners (corner ones inked with Metallic Silver Alcohol                            Ink), Vial Label, Elements Remnant Rubs, Nails from the Workshop Tools Die Set,                                Tape Measure Ribbon from Michaels

Adhesives: Same as above

Tools: Tiny Attacher, Felt Pads for inking, Tea Towel, Vagabond

I discovered that I could ink the foil tape but  it took a few layers to get it as dark as I wanted it. To grunge the crest I put on a layer of ink and then wiped it off gently while it was wet. That took off the layers in spots to let the base color show through. I have become a fan of foil tape and hope to use it again soon. I am eager to see what it looks like as snowflakes covered with glitter. I also wore a rubber glove so that I would not get ink all over my fingers. I used just the felt pad without the applicator tool in order to get aroung all of the raised embossing.

Altered Clipboard inspired by Tim Holtz

Hi everyone! I am back after many months with what may be my absolute favorite project ever! I have never tried altering anything, but after seeing this month’s tag tutorial by Tim Holtz I was truly inspired. I wanted to try this month’s tag and when all my products came in I really liked the “Note to Self” from the Alpha Parts “framed” product. I had a lot of trouble getting the blender resist to work right (it took about 1 ½ hours just for those two words) but following his instructions I created this great tag:

From there the inspiration hit to make some kind of corkboard to go with it. After all, if I am going to make a “Note to Self” I need somewhere to put that note-right? The nearest craft store is an hour away so I hit a couple pharmacies to see if they had any corkboards in their school supply aisle that I could alter. They did not but they did have clipboards. I knew I had an old one at home. Thankfully my husband knew where it was (since it is his) and said I could have it. Using all kinds of Tim Holtz products, an old mouse pad, and Ranger alcohol inks I got busy. Here are a lot of pics:

I absolutely LOVE,LOVE, LOVE how this turned out!!! Did I mention that I absolutely love this?

I'm finally back with a new card!

I am finally back to post a new card after several months of inactivity. Life just seemed to get in the way and I found it very difficult to get back into the swing of creating and posting.

This card is one of a few that I hope to make for a friend of mine. She is doing some mission work at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. She is teaming up with a group of ladies to do a religious retreat and will be working with 42 inmates in hopes of reaching some of them for Christ. She asked people for some cards of encouragement to give to the inmates. While I am unable to do 42 I am hoping to do at least 3 or 4.

I used a script stamp on blue cardstock. I think the ink I used is Stampin' Up Island Indigo. I used some scrap pieces of DP mounted to the same blue cardstock that I inked the edges on. I also inked the ribbon. The butterfly is from the Stampin' Up set Grateful Bunch. I can't remember where the sentiment came from. The Die is from Lifestyle Crafts.
