Tag, You're It

Hi all. I am here to do the last challenge for Love To Scrap that I can enter for prizes. Why is it my last? I am excited to say that I have been invited to be a permanent Design Team Member!! Whoot, Whoot!

Any way, when I saw the challenge on their blog, I didn't think I would have enough time to get a tag done, but I put my other projects on the back burner and decided to give it a whirl. I was looking at different blogs last Friday and saw someone do a fantastic black and white. Since that is also our theme for my February card club meeting, I decided to try my hand at it. Here is what I came up with.

I was really pleased with the results. Now I just have to do 13 more for Card Club. I have to add a splash of red for Club, so I am switching out the black baker's twine and sentiment for red ones. I also decided to change the stickles that I used on the flowers. I used Frosted Lace, but it didn't make it very sparkly. I switched to Stardust.  Here are some close-up pics:

You can't see the stickles at all, but if you look closely you can see the Mr. Huey Color Mist that I used on Tilda's wrap and the the heart. I must tell you that the fiber I used is some that I have had for at least 8 years. It is one of the first ones that I ever bought when I first started scrapbooking. I thought it was really pretty, but then just never had the desire to use it very often. The list of what I used on this tag is as follows:

Tag: Cut using Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cartridge cut at 5"
Image: Magnolia's Tilda Captures Stars
Dies: Magnolia Doohickey Heart Swirl
Punches: Creative Memories 1" heart punch
Sentiment: Close To My Heart "Wonderful You" Set
Ribbon: Glitter Tulle, Baker's Twine, White Lace Ribbon Tape (J & Bobbin), Patron Allure Yarn "Diamond"
Flowers: White Paper Roses by Mikie's Favor Embellishments
Stickles: Frosted Lace
Ink: Memento Black
Markers: Distress Black Soot (stitching), Copics E0000, E00, E21, R20 (skin), C1, C3, C5, C7, C9 (hair and wrap)

Guest DT for Stamp and Create with Magnolia

I was so thrilled to see that I had won the Winter Snowflake challenge at Stamp and Create with Magnolia. I was even more thrilled and honored when they asked if I would be interested in being a guest designer for their next challenge. It is something that I've always wanted to do, so of course I said "yes"! The theme for this challenge, which starts January 17th, is "In Love". Thankfully I have some Maggies with hearts on them. I wanted to make something extra special for all of you, so I stepped out of my comfort zone to try layering different designer papers. I am not very good at mixing at matching, but I love these papers from DCWV (Die Cuts with a View). Since I don't have a lot of experience with layering, I went on the hunt for some inspiration. I found a blog by a woman named Fleur. Her cards are wonderful and she did a lot of layering. You can check out my inspiration here at http://fleurapassionforcraft.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/a-creative-romance-dt-something-new.html. Here is what I came up with:

I don't use my Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page punch very much because of the odd sizes it makes for cards. I figured that since I won't be mailing this anyway it wouldn't matter. I will probably just give this to my husband even though its really girly. After hours of practicing and playing (because I can never get it to cut correctly and I don't like the sizes I have to use) I cut a square piece of pink cardstock at 6.75" and used the punch to make a decorative base for the card. If I remember correctly, the card itself is a 5.75" square which I made out of cream cardstock. The green lace layer is made using the Magnolia Doohickey Die "Tilda Love Lace". I played around with some measurements and then cut out the edges. It took some work to get things to match up, but it turned out okay. I inked the heart doily with Distress Antique Linen and Worn Lipstick. The image I chose is Tilda Blowing Hearts. I think she is just adorable. She is colored with copics as is the outside of the Spellbinders Nestabilities Floral Ovals Die that she is stamped onto. The red flower did not have a center, so I added a pearl drop using an Opal colored Paper Pen (a pearl pen) from Viva Décor. Here are some close-ups:

Unfortunately, you can't see the stickles I added to Tilda's hearts and hair ribbons, but since I love bling I had to sparkle them up:) This card was a lot of fun. I enjoy the time it takes to design what I do, I just wish I could do it faster. Here is a list of what I used:

Paper: DP from DCWV and cardstock-plain and co'ordinations

                Rounder
Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities Floral Ovals (largest one), Magnolia Doohickeys Tilda Lace Die &
          Heart Swirl
