CDAC Progressive Challenge Entry 3

The deadline is almost here and I still have one more image to go. I don't know if I will be able to complete it, but I am giving it the old college try. This is the 3rd out of 4 images that I have completed a card with. This is my favorite image and the one I wanted most of all. The artist is again Nana Vic. I think it is an adorable image. I really appreciate Nana Vic giving it to us free to use.

That being said, I wanted to do something different with it. It is a larger image with alot of detail. I really did not want to color the whole thing, especially with cutting it so close on time. I decide to use a technique that we use alot in card class. We cover an image with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then add color to part of the image. It gives a more vintage look (and I do love vintage, I'm just not very good at it). This technique looks better when the image is not black. With the digital aspect, I was limited (so I thought) with the black lines that it came in. I decided to print it out and then copy it, making the image lighter. I had to copy it twice before it was light enough. I just did it on regular paper. I then used distress markers to go over the outlines. There are so many lines to trace that it did take a while to do. It made me appreciate the hard work that goes in to making these kinds of detailed images. Hats off and Kudos to you Nana Vic for your great work.

After I finished tracing everything, I did a color copy onto my white premium cardstock. I find that this paper works best for me because the ink doesn't smear when I use my copics. I cut it out to the size I wanted and started inking and coloring. Using my blending tool, I covered the entire piece with Antique Linen and added Vintage Photo around the edges. I then went in with my copics and added the coloring that you see. Copics used: G21 & 24 on leaves, G20 on grass, B93 & 95 and R11 & 20 on flowers. I added a spot of R11 to baby's cheek and then dabbed a little Antique Linen over it to mute it. E21 on the mushrooms and E11 on the hair. I used stickles on the flowers, leaves, and mushrooms spots for bling and added rhinestones to the flower centers. I colored white organza ribbon with R25 and added a pin. The charm says "made with love" which I thought was appropriate in most cases.

The sentiment is also by Nana Vic. When I copied it onto Word, I tried playing around with the format tools. I discovered that I could change the coloring. I wished I would have discovered that trick earlier. I changed the ink to brown and printed it. I layered it with a thin layer of Chipped Sapphire distress ink and added Vintage Photo around the edges. I popped it off with foam tape and added rhinestones.

On the inside I used two flowers that I had left over from the images from Lila Grey and a mushroom that I cut out from a mini Magnolia scene. The inside saying is from Stampin' Up.Here are the pics:

CDAC Seasonal Challenge

Oops, my bad! I didn't realize that I could not combine challenges on CDAC. Here is my correct entry for the Seasonal Challenge. The girl is Tilda in Lace Jeans from Magnolia. The digi elements are from Lila Grey. I can't remember who the sun is from, but it is a stamp from a summer set that I have. I added flower soft for 2 reasons: flowers bloom in spring and it allowed me to make the fence look taller than it actually is. The cloud I traced from the rainbow in my last post (Back To Paper is the artist for that).

CDAC Progressive Challenge 2nd Entry

I am trying to make up for lost time. This rainbos is the 2nd image provided by CDAC for this challenge. The artist is Back To Paper. The other images were also provided as freebies on CDAC for playing in last quarter's challenges. The artist is Lila Grey. This card also fits into the CDAC Seasonal Challenge.

The images were colored with copics. The rainbows were covered with 3D Crystal Lacquer for shine and dimension. I cut out extra clouds and popped the 2 up with foam tape. The third one was cut into 2 pieces and placed into the sky. I added stickles to the butterflies and flowers. I tied the birdhouse onto the branch with yellow jute. The bird and butterflies  are also popped. I made antennae for the butterflies out of wire. For the inside rainbow I flipped the original version and traced it.

CDAC Entries

Wow time sure does fly! It's been a month since my last post. I have been sooo busy this quarter that I nearly forgot to do my CDAC entries. This is a great site for those of you who like to use digi images. They have challenges and offer free images when you compete them. This quarter's images were really great. The problem with forgetting to complete the challenges-no free images next quarter. I worked really hard yesterday after getting back from Yellowstone National Park (was gone nearly 2 weeks) and got three cards finished.

This first one is for the Inspirational Challenge:

You have to use a digi image for this challenge. The boat on the front is a stamp from Stampendous, but the lighthouse is a digi image. I can't remember who the artist is-I will edit this later and add it. The boat is stamped with ink from Close to My Heart. I added embossing powder to the waves and Tim Holtz Stickles Clear Rock Candy dry glitter that I colored black with alcohol ink to the smoke. The lighthouse is colored using copics. The inside saying is from My Daily Bread and the outside sentiment I believe is from KC Andrews. The boat on the inside is from a stamp set that I just got yesterday at card class. I cut out the boat and popped it up. I added Stickles to the light from the lighthouse to make it shine.

The next image is for the Progressive Challenge. It has 4 images that you can get, but since I forgot to do it I will be lucky to get 2 of them.

The image is from Nana Vic and can be bought from her store at the CDAC website. I colored it with copics and sprayed it with PK Glitz Garnet Ritzy Ditz. I colored the the dots and scalloped edge with copics and covered them with crystal stickles. I used silver stickles to the handle and pointed top. I colored white jute to match to make the bow. The sentiment is printed on the computer and cut with a Tim Holtz die. The stones on the sentiment are from Annabelle Stamps. I think they are called Sprinkles and are the 6mm ones (they have different sizes). The DP is from My Minds Eye. I can't remember the brand of copper cardstock, but it has a glimmery sheen to it and really shines.

My final card is for the 1-2-3 Challenge. You have to use 1 sentiment, 2 DPs, and at least 3 embellies.

The owl images were again provide by Nana Vic. The tombstone is just one I found online and printed off. The sentiments were done using MS Word. I clicked on add shape and found a conversation balloon that looked like a cloud. I filled them in with color and typed what I wanted. This card is for my sister's 40th birthday. The second image is the inside of the card. The images were colored with copics. The embellies used were jute, rhinestones, and crystal lacquer. It was like 3 am when I finished this and didn't wait for the insides to settle. As you can see, the jute didn't stay in place. Oh, well-live and learn right? The DPs are both from My Minds Eye and they were mounted to black cardstock.

I also found The Scrapbooking Queen's challenge "Anything Goes" and Die Cuttin' Divas "Birthday w/ 3 Embellishments" . I am entering this card in them as well.
