Maggie Mingles Card

June went so fast that I didn't even realize the date. I got my Magnolia-licious Mingles card out late, but I did get it out. This is what I came up with:

I wish that I would have remembered to look the name of this Tilda up before I came to the library to post, but I didn't. Oh, well. The DP is from the Recollections "Habitat" paper pack. The lace is just some I bought from probably Walmart. The flowers on the front are regular ones that I bought from Michaels. The die behind Tilda is from Memory Box. The sentiment is from Close To My Heart. I went over the scrollwork of it with Wink of Stella.

LTSCB Challenge 32 "Holey Cardstock"

It's time for another challenge at the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog. I just got back from spending a week in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and wasn't sure I was going to get this one done in time. I was told that we would have wi-fi in our unit, but it wasn't working properly. I am uploading this at 1:00 am on Monday morning. I am sitting in the library parking lot using their wi-fi connection. Am I dedicated or what? Anyway, this challenge is being sponsored by:

For this challenge you must make an opening for the stamped image to show through. You can use dies, punches, or hand cut. I am working with the image "Silhouette Bride and Groom" as well as the sentiment "To Have and To Hold". Here is my card:

To make my opening, I took the second biggest die from Spellbinders Floral Ovals set and placed it on the card base where I wanted it. Then I took a craft knife and cut out the inside of the die to make the hole. I took a piece of white cardstock and cut out the die, then cut out the inside of that one with the knife. This made my window. Using a hand sprayer, I sprayed a piece of lace with copic BG05. I ran a gathering stitch and gathered it. I hotglued the lace around the opening in the base and then glued the die cut on top of it. I added rhinestones on each side to glitz it up a bit. The sentiment and image were printed on coordinating cardstock. The sentiment is from the Spellbinders 5x7 scalloped  frame set. The image is cut using the floral oval die. Here is the inside of the card:

The inside looked a little plain, so I added a couple of bows. I traced over the bride with a clear Gellyroll stardust pen to add some glitter. The inside sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

My card today features Sailor Ragdoll By QKR. My son is in the Navy and I thought this would be a perfect image to use.

I don't have any banner die cuts, so my banner is made using some ribbon that I've had for a few years and jute string. I made the sentiment on Word and cut it out with a Lifestyle Crafts Label It Kit die. I added a couple of patriotic clip art images that I found on the web. The butterfly is covered with 3-D Lacquer to make it more sturdy. The USA is just silver alphabet stickers. The ragdoll is colored with copics. I didn't decorate the inside. With the military, less seems to be more. They don't like glitter on things-too messy I guess. Who wants their military personnel covered in glitter on the battlefront-right? Plus, Eric doesn't like anything that looks frilly or fancy.

Retirement cards

We had 4 teachers retire this year from the school I work at. I made each of them a card. I made them all the same (with just some color variation). I hand wrote each of them a personalized note so that they were all different in some way. I liked how they turned out. Unfortunately as I uploaded them, two of the pics turned sideways. My camera broke and I have been at the mercy of my phone for picture taking. I don't know why, but sometimes it turns the pictures sideways when I upload them. The 4th card was like the 1st, so I didn't take a picture of it.

The inside:

The image is a My Bestie by Sherri Baldy. They are colored with copics. The DP is Tim Holtz Ideolgy. I used two different stack packs. I cut out the inside of the first mat and used it on the inside of the card. I saved paper and got matching colors that way. The sentiment is a Studio 490 one. I forget what the set is called. I am uploading at the public library, so I can't check. I inked the ribbon with antique linen distress ink. I then put worn lipstick and shabby shutters (weathered wood for the pink based card) on a craft mat, spritzed it with water and put the ribbon in it. I used Tim Holtz crinkle ribbon, so I wadded it up and let it dry. That gives a nice distressed, mottled look. I made a pin using alphabet beads that I've had for a really long time. I tried to use things that looked like school things. The twine inside is from the retirement party we had for them. I incorporated it as a memento. It was wrapped around the silverware. I just gathered up pieces at the end of the party that had not been thrown away.

Here is my creation using Summertime Charm by Lawn Fawn:

I decided to go CAS this time. The wording on both the inside and outside of the card was computer printed using Word. The glass was made with Word also. I used the "shapes" tool to layer a flat bottomed cone and oval. I then filled it in with a gradient option and hand cut it. The stamped images (jar and lemons) were colored with copics. I added 3D Crystal Lacquer to the jar and glass for a glassy look. The piece of DP is from Close to my Heart.

I chose the image "Milkshake Anyone" from the Stamping Chef. Using the "B" in Bingo I created this card:

Isn"t she a dish? My Bingo row consists of lace, gemstones, green, Thanks or Thank You, and punches. The green DP  from SEI. The green ribbon came from Annabelle Stamps. I used green copics to color the background of the image and the dress. I gave her green eyes and eyeshadow too. I wanted to use a lace bow, but I didn''t have any lace I could use, so I put self-adhesive lace ribbon over green satin ribbon. I liked how it turned out. My cherry gemstones were actually from a strip of flip-flop embellishments that I found on clearance for 97 cents. I wondered if I would ever use them, but they were perfect for this. I used Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight for the card shape and image shape.

Did you find my punches? The sentiment is obvious, but check out the cherry on the bow. It is actually a circle punch from Creative Memories. I just cut a little off the top and bottom to shape it and added a piece of scrap brown for a stem. I covered it with Christmas Red Stickles as well as the the cherry on the milkshake and the straw.

I discovered that with Microsoft Word I can crop my image. I enlarged my original image and then cropped it to just the milkshake. I then cut them out by hand. I added crystal 3-D lacquer to the glasses of all the milkshakes for a glassy effect.

Emily Spring Ladybugs

Today is going to be such a busy day that I just want to go back to bed and pull the covers over my head. I have a wedding and prom today. While my son is getting his hair cut, I am posting this last minute entry to Lacy Sunshine's "Make it Feminine" challenge:

 

This is Emily Spring Ladybugs from Lacy Sunshine. She is colored with copics as are the sentiment and darker flowers. I used Wink of Stella pens to add glitter to the image and sentiment and stickles to the larger flowers. The leaves are a Martha Stewart punch. I think it is called "Frond" but don't remember. The two ladybugs are from a stamp set by Stampendous called Daisy Thanks.
