Annabelle Stamps Challenge #046

Here is my entry for this week's challenge. It was so quick and easy to make (after I figured out what I wanted) that I surprised myself. The card and oval are white cardstock. Everything else is from Creative Memories. The ribbon is paper ribbon and everything is from a coordinating line of products. I folded the ribbon at the bottom to give it a banner-type appearance. I applied light gray shimmer chalk to the oval and banner to tone down the whiteness and give it a shine.

I used this card for Annabelle Stamps Sketch Challenge #046 and Paper Playtimes anything goes Ch #66.

RRR challenge #40 Second Entry

This is my second entry to the Really Reasonable Ribbon Valentines Day Challenge. There were so many great entries that I wanted to try to make a fancier card. The back of the card was made by using a Martha Stewart All Around the Page punch. I punchd a piece of green paper 6.75" X 5". I then made a card to fit in the the middle space. I inked the background of the card with Tattered Rose Distress Ink. I used the same ink to stamp a word background stamp. I used a stamp by Stampabilities. I cut out a heart and placed it on the left of the card. I traced around it and then made the wreath with a stamp set by Rubber Stamp Tapestry called Holiday Stocking. I only used the flower, leaf, and star stamps. The ink I used were all Distress Inks: Fired Brick, Dusty Concord, Peeled Paint, and Iced Spruce. I basically just followed the directions given with the stamp set to make the wreath using only the 3 stamps instead of all 5. The large ribbon was white sheer. I inked it with the Peeled Paint to match the wreath. The small ribbon was also inked with Peeled paint. I used a mini Bowdabra to make the bow. I used a corsage pin with a pearl on top. Using Copic Markers, I colored the pearl and clear faceted bead. The rondelles were just pink ones that came in a multicolored package. Use a little clear glue on the last rondell to hold everything in place and stick through the knot. I cut a label using my Cricut and Fancy Label Cartridge. Stamp the label with a sentiment. I used a clear Stardust Gellyroll Pen to add glitter to the words. (I love this pen!!) I inked clear bling with a Copic and applied it to the label. The size of the small ones had to be really small because of the small size of the label.

Say It in... Yellow, Lime, and Turquoise

 I came across this blog by accident while visiting another blog. They have some really nice ideas and some nice products. I decided to participate in my first weekly challenge. I am not sure any of these colors are a shade of turquoise, but I'm going to try it. I do want to make another card though if I have time. I want to say thanks to you who have signed up to be followers. I can't believe I actually have 2 of you so far! I haven't put the word out to my friends yet as I am waiting until I get more designs uploaded. I'm almost done with card #2. I find that I am very slow.

I tried out my Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page border punches today. After several attempts to make a border around my card and ruining 2 sheets of paper, I decided to get out the directions. Who would have thought you would need directions to work a punch? LOL! I discovered that you couldn't just use any size paper. You have to cut your paper special sizes for the punch to work. Now that I have that figured out, I have to redo the entire card I'm working on because the card is the wrong size for the border piece. Grrr! O well... It was fun making the card, so I guess I just get to have more fun. Have a great week!!

My entry to RRR Valentine's Day Challenge

I came up with this idea and couldn't wait to try it. We had another snow day today, so I had an extra day off. I spent my day doing this card, taking my 22 month old granddaughter outside to play in the snow, and holding her because she fell asleep on me. I'm proud of myself for figuring out how to upload a picture to my post. Thank goodness for the help link. LOL:)

I'm not one for pinks and reds when it comes to scrapbooking or card making. I wanted to stay away from traditional pinks, reds, and hearts. I made this to give to my husband for Valentines Day. The paper is Bazzill Basics Paper-Dotted Swiss in the Tahitian Princess color. I flipped the paper over to do the embossed design. The stamp is from Hero Arts. I stamped it with VersaMark and embossed it with "By the Lake" embossing glitter by Sparkle N Sprinkle. The Ribbon is a dark teal that I picked up in the sewing section of Hobby Lobby. It was too wide, so I folded it in half and pinned it. Then I took a needle and thread and ran a loose stitch along the fold. I used this stitching to make the gathers. When you gather you have to more than double the amount of ribbon that goes around the area you are covering.  I hot glued the ribbon onto the back of the embossing. Since I didn't have a narrow ribbon that matched, I cut the dark edge off of a piece of my wide ribbon and glued it onto the front of the embossing. I cut a piece of the dotted swiss to the size I wanted for my card and glued the embossed section to it. I added matching 3 dimensional flowers by Kurio (after all, they are part of Valentines Day). Using my Cricut and Lacy Labels cartridge, I cut my label by setting the size at 1 1/2 in. I placed teal rhinestones and hand printed my greeting using a teal glitter marker by Martha Stewart. On the inside I put " who loves me as I am and makes my life complete. I love you."

Blog Beginning

I had to create this blog in order to enter a contest by Really Reasonable Ribbon. This could be a fun journey if I had decent internet. I only have dial up right now thanks to where I live. Hopefully soon I will be able to get a faster connection. I think it will be fun to share what I make and ideas that I have. Right now I can say that I am enjoying our first real snowfall of the winter. It's been snowing lightly for 2 days now.
