School Days

I love Lacy Sunshine images. I think they are absolutely adorable. Some of them have more coloring than I like to do, but it's worth it. The challenge blog has a progressive challenge. When you use one of their images in the challenge, you get a free image to use for the next one. I try to complete the challenges so that I can get those free images. I don't always succeed. For instance, this card was supposed to be for their last challenge "Back to School". This is the free image that they offered. It is called Chrissy Crystalwhisk Fairy. I thought that I had until tonight to get it uploaded. I just made it today. Turns out I was wrong. It had to be done last night. Oh well. The challenge this time is "Use a Window". I don't know if this frame will work, but it just so happens to be on my card. I am going to try it and see. Here it is:

Back to School

I had to start back to work this week after having my summer off. I am a secretary in our local school. It's always hard to go back after having about 2 1/2 months off. This year saw a lot of new faces at our school. We have 11 new teachers in our building. I decided to make them a card to welcome them.

This card was way to much to color and mass produce, so I cheated. I did one and then copied it on my printer. My ink went low so I had to do some touch up, but they were okay. Both of these stamps are Magnolia stamps: Mini Tilda with Pencils and Vintage Swedish Background. The first card was colored with copics. I then used copics to touch up the copies. The bottom of the mat is layered with Tim Holtz tissue tape. The sentiment is also Tim Holtz as is the die it is on (Shapeabilities Tag). It is inked with vintage photo distress ink. There is nothing fancy on the inside. I typed a message on the computer and cut it out with a shaped die.

Here are the challenges I am entering:

Love To Scrap Challenge 36 "Anything Goes"

Welcome back to another LTSCB challenge. This time it's another "Anything Goes". The sponsor the time around is:

Prize: $25 gift certificate
Heartfelt Creations

This company offers a wonderful array of products: Stamps, diecuts, Stamps with matching dies, paper, etc. I bought my stamps and dies a few years ago. I really enjoy using them. I mostly use my religious ones, but the others are alot of fun too. I decided to do two different cards to showcase what Heartfelt Creations has to offer. My first card is a cheater card. Heartfelt Creations offers a gallery of beautiful cards that will inspire you to create your own wonderful creations. I chose to copy one of those cards and make my own. I do not have the same stamp, but the effect is the same. Here is what my card looks like:

I guess I should have checked the website against my products. This card was done using the Fancy Ornament Precut Set and Holly/Ornament Diecuts. Unfortunately these are no longer available. Thankfully I bought both of them when I did. I used the matching dies to cut out the ornaments. The sentiment and verse, however, are still available. They belong to a precut set called Wiseman Ornament Precut Set.
The scallop punch is by Martha Stewart. I ran the red strip through an embossing folder. I traced the ornament lines with my Wink of Stella pen to add some glitter. I also popped the outside ornament with foam squares. The DP is from a christmas stack pack that I have had for years. I didn't look at the gallery to see if this card is still on there. I had printed it off years ago when I bought the stamp.

My next card features a stamp set that is still available. It is called Shepherd Scene PreCut Set. This card is my own design:

The website says to use Heirloom Ornaments 2011 dies to cut out the image. I do not have this die set, so I chose the Spellbinders Majestic Elements set. This image is fairly good-sized  so I used an A7 card base instead of A2. I had to use the largest die in the set to cut out the image, so to make the mat I enlarged it on a piece of paper. I cut it out, traced around it and cut that out. It is not as neat looking as the die cut obviously. The outside sentiment is part of the stamp set. The inside verse is from Stampin Up. The inside dies are from the same Spellbinders set. This image is also popped with foam squares. It is colored using Prismacolor pencils and Gamisol. I added yellow Stickles to the star.

I made matching envelopes as well using the star from the shepherd image and the small ornament. I used my gold Wink of Stella pen instead of Stickles on the star.

LTSCB Challenge # 35 Running in Circles

Hello again! It's time for another challenge on the Love To Scrap Challenge Blog. This time the theme is "Running in Circles" You must use circles somewhere on your creation. Here are our sponsors:

Prize: 3 images to winner
Lacy Sunshine Stamps

Prize: 3 images to winner

I got to work with a fabulous image from Lacy Sunshine called Thea Boo Blowing Bubbles. I just love all the cute images at Lacy Sunshine. They are very imaginative and adorable. When I saw this one I knew it would be perfect. I have pics of my granddaughter blowing bubbles with her aunt. I was going to do 2 projects, but only had time for one. Since my last post promised a page in my new library pocket album, I did it. Here is what I came up with:

The front of the pocket:

The DP is My Mind's Eye. The sentiment was printed on the computer and cut with a circle die. I cut slits in it and ran an organza ribbon through it. The ribbon was colored with copic BG01. I cut around the image and then cut out each individual bubble and glued them on separately. I didn't like the white around them when I tried to fussy cut them together. The image and bubbles are colored with copics. I then layed Crystal 3D Lacquer on the bubbles for a shiny, bubbly look. I also used glitter pens from gellyroll and wink of stella on the image and edge of sentiment.

The insert:

Since the pics took up most of the room, I decide for a light look. I used a small circle stamp from Gelatins "Spin my Round" set. I interlocked them using VersaMark. I then applied mica powders. The blue is from Pearl Ex and the pink from Perfect Pearls. I also covered them with the 3D Lacquer. I found some Nemo Ribbon and decided to use it since it also has bubbles on it. I attached it with my Tiny Attacher from Tim Holtz. I then covered the staple with circles cut from vellum. Since I didn't have a scrap piece of pink, I used white and then colored it with RV02.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my project. The challenge runs until Aug. 17th. I do hope you'll join us.
