Hiking Edwin Birthday Card

Summer has been way too busy for me to do much in the line of crafting or card making. It's canning time, so my garden has to come first. God blessed us with a great crop of tomatoes and green beans. I have been making lots of salsa, spaghetti sauce, and chili. Pizza sauce is on the agenda for tonight. It's also soccer time. I found out last night that our main goalie got his arm broken in two places. I figure that my son will have to be the goalie now. We're going to practice just in case. Between these two things and work, my time for crafting is very limited.

I went to Amish Country (in Holmes County Ohio) over the summer. I hope to have a cute craft idea finished soon to share. I saw it at one of the stores and thought I could make my own. We'll see.

This is the birthday card that I made for my husband's prayer partner at church. The images are from Magnolia Stamps: Hiking Edwin, Hiking Background, and mini Walter the Moose. I colored the images with copic markers. I used flowersoft for the small clouds and trees because I like texture and dimension. I tried stamping on blue cardstock so that I would have a blue sky. The only problem with this is that the lighter colors (fire and skin) were distorted. I had to use darker skin tones to cover up the blue. The cloud sentiment is just freehanded and cut out. The sentiment is from one of the sets sold by The Scrapbooking Queen. I stamped the moose on white cardstock, colored him and cut him out. I attached the sentiment and moose with foam squares for more dimension.

Cathy Lee's Summer Blog Candy

I just got back Sunday evening from spending a few days with my mom, son, and nephew. We went camping in Holmes County Ohio, the home of our state renown Amish Country. We had lots of fun shopping and eating. I found a great cedar box that is going into my breezeway to hold hats, gloves, scarves, etc. I bought lots of yummy food from Millers Bakery and Coblenz Chocolates. When I checked out my email today, there was a post to the Magnalicious Group from Cathy Lee offering some great blog candy. I entered my name and invite you to do the same. Edwin and Tilda Anniversary Card

I have another Edwin and Tilda card to share. I used Graffiti Edwin and Tilda in Lace Jeans. I also used the  Stone Wall with End Pillar. I used masking to make the wall longer. It was too short to put both stamps on it. I colored the images with copics and cut them out (as one piece) I found a piece of decorative paper resembling sky and covered the front of the card with it. I then placeed the Magnolia images on top. I used flowersoft to make the grass and flowers. I then covered pieces of wire with the flowersoft to make the bouquet Edwin brought to give to Tilda. Tilda's buttons were done using a white pearl pen. I put cotton candy stickles on the lace of the jeans and bow because I like glitter. I found a couple of challenges to enter this in. Magnalicious Birthday Card

I have fallen in love with Magnolia Stamp's Edwin and Tilda. As such I ordered several items from them. I have used Edwin wants a Hug and Sweetie Tilda on this card. Here they are decorating for someone's birthday. I thought that it looked like Edwin could be holding something, so I wanted to try this idea. I had to make this a large card because everything wouldn't fit on the 4X6 size. Here's the pic:

I don't have the wonderful coloring techniques that the Magnalicious DT use, but it didn't turn out too bad. The background paper was double-sided. I cut an inch off of the bottom and reversed it to look like a wall and floor. I used the brown side of a double-sided ribbon to imitate wood trim. The sentiment is a chipboard shape that coordinates with the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. I colored it with a copic marker (G94). The stamp also comes with the cricut cartridge set. I added distress stickles for dimension. The gift is just a square of shiny paper. I added ribbon to it so that it would like like a present. The banner is hand-cut pennants. I used small alphabet stickers from Creative Memories. I cut holes in the pennants with my Big Bite and strung them on bakers twine. I glitter embossed a brad to make the banner hang on the "wall". I used foam squares to pop everything up for dimension. It looked better than just putting them flat on the card. For the Crafty Boots challenge there are stars, stripes, and dots on my card.

Wedding Card

It really stinks being at the mercy of my local library in order to have high speed internet. Count your blessings those of you who do not live to far from your phone companys hubs or to far out of town for cable. Any way, I haven't been doing a lot because I don't want to waste gas going to the library. However, my niece is getting married this afternoon and so I created this card for her. Her colors are brown, tan and yellow-hence the color combo.

The flowers and leaves were cut out using Cricut's Art Philosophy cartridge. The large flowers were at 3" and the small ones at 2". The leaves were cut at 1" (I can't remember for sure)
The oval was cut at 3". I layered vellum over the decorative paper and stamped on it. The center of the flowers were done using a pearl pen as were the pearl accents on the corners of the rectangle. The scalloped piece was cut using a Tim Holtz alterations die. The inside piece is a card holder (or in my case, a check holder). I played around with it until I was satisfied. The scalloped edge was done using a punch. I then glued it down, folding it at the corners. I didn't like it, so I added white candy which I covered with ultra fine glitter. The saying was stamped using a stamp from Stampin' Up. I hope you like my card. I am entering it in the following challenges:

CDAC Progressive Challenge Entry

This image was supplied by Doodle Pantry. I scraplifted this layout from fellow CDAC member Jeannette Hebden. I fell in love with her card. I do not have the same paper, so I adapted. My Mom My Friend

The travelling Vietnam Memorial Wall is here in McConnelsville this weekend. It arrived with a motorcycle escort-at least 500 I would say. I have never seen so many motorcycles at one time. The Wall is set up in a grassy area called The commons. It is quite impressive. It really looks like the real thing. I would say it is in miniature (which compared to the real thing it is) but it is still huge. I am going to go take pictures when I am finished here.

On to my card! This time I incorporated 5 different challeges based on color, theme, flowers, and bling. I came up with this card:

The color scheme was done using pink, cream, red, and white as the main colors. The image is entitled "Flowers for Mom" and is from Stitchy Bear Stamps. He is printed on white cardstock. Since I still do not have the right cutting pads for my Vagabond I had to trace and cut the die image. You can't tell from the picture but I chalked around the edges with a light pink glitter chalk to soften them. He is colored using PrismaColor pencils, a blending medium, and a shader. The hearts are punched from an old Creative Memories punch. I used their biggest heart punch. The pink flowers were cut from Cricut's Flower Shoppe cartridge. The red flowers are just some I had on hand. I added bling and cream sticky lace to complete it. I have never used bling flourishes before. I have always been too nervous. I am not sure it looks right, but there it is. The card measures 6" x 6". Here are the challenges I entered:
