Nativity Frame

After a huge break from blogging (not really by choice), I am back with my entry for the Magnolia-licious Holiday Blog Hop. It has been extremely difficult to get to the library to do my blogging. I pick up my granddaughter almost every night from preschool, so I don't have time to blog and Christmas break has just been too busy. This frame was intended as a gift for my mother, who collects and loves nativities, but I did not get it finished in time for Christmas.

I chose the Holy Tilda and Edwin line because there is no better way to show the true meaning of Christmas than the story of the birth of Jesus. I didn't have any of the stamps, so I had to order them. I am thankful that Diane at Magnoliastamps.us is quick to ship.  Here is what I designed:

The frame came from Archivers. I don't think I put it together correctly because I have two "L" shaped pieces that I did not know what to do with. There were no instructions so after putting the inside DP on the back piece, I just used wood glue to glue them together. Here is the list of what I used:

Wooden Frame-Archivers
DP-Archivers Christmas paper, glitter paper from Archivers and Michaels
Silver glittery ribbon
Silver Bells and cording
Star ornament from Crafts 2000
Winter Wonderland Cricut Cartridge ("Believe")
Frantage Shabby Blue

Rhinestones
Die: DH Slender Firs
Snow Tek
Microfine Glitter: Opal Essence
Studio J Matte paste (I think that's the brand)
Maggie Stamps:Tilda Captures Stars, Holy Tilda w/ Violin
Show the Way sign, Holy Tilda w/ Lamb,
Tilda and Edwin as Wisemen, Holy Edwin
Loving Holy Tilda, and Little Holy Baby

I used my very first Frantage! I love it! I have seen so many of you creative bloggers use it so nicely that I had to try. I bought it a while back and thankfully the color I chose happened to match this DP. I had a little trouble with it sticking. It wanted to blow away even using versamark. I need to find out how people apply the versamark (or whatever you use). Maybe I just didn't get enough on.

The palm tree is hand drawn and pieced using a tan cardstock and glitter paper. I love glitter paper! It has a smooth feel and is very sparkly. "Believe" is cut at 2 3/4" and layered.

I like frantage as well but haven't used it in a while (mmm, may start calling to me...), I'm pretty sure I just used versamark, so yeah, just make sure there is plenty for it to stick to!!
